One Direction: our next album will be 'rockier'
One Direction have confirmed they will release a new album later this year and have revealed the sound of the record will be ''rockier'' than their previous material.
This is probably the biggest news, because the band are always on the road in some capacity or on tour. But this is the first record since 2012’s Take Me Home, that is a long time in pop world. According to the Telegraph, the boys said in their press conference that they held to announce all these things that the album would take on a rockier and edgier slant to their previous two records.
The 'Little Things' hitmakers have confirmed they are to release a new album later this year and the quintet - formed of Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik - have ventured into a new genre for it, different from their usual pop sound.

His bandmate Liam continued to reveal how he and the boys took the time to write many of the songsfor the record, and although they want their music to be more ''edgy'', he insists they haven't changed their sound too drastically.
He added: ''We've written a lot of the songs this time, which is nice. But we just made it a bit more edgy, but not too different, just changes here and there.
''[The sound] kind of grows as we grow.''
The group are overwhelmed by the opportunity to perform at dozens of huge venues over the globe during their tour next year - which kicks in Latin America in April - and they hope they can keep their success going for years to come.
Liam added: ''We want to do this as long as we can. We can't believe this is happening all at once, but we're just going to go with it.''
They’re already on their second world headline tour at the moment but they’ll be back in 2014, kicking things off in Colombia in the spring and progressing around the world until they end up back in jolly old Blighty come May time.
